Born in 1945 in Shanghai, China.
A graduate of Zhejiang Fine Art School and now living in Linhai, Liang has exhibited extensively in international Biennales and Triennales, including Venice (1999), Lyon (2000) and Shanghai (2000 and 2006). Well known for his serenely abstract hangings and installations referencing Chinese classical philosophy, Liang started his « Nature Series » in 1988, breeding silkworms and incorporating them into his works. This proved to be a turning point for his artistic practice as he combined bio-ecology, weaving, sculpture and video to create « recordings of the fourth dimension. »
