Born in 1891 in Beijing, China.
A graduate from the Sculpture Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Li is one of China’s latest generation of female artists who is fast gaining critical recognition for her work. Following the strong tradition of figurative art in China, Li’s fibreglass sculptures and portraits are based on life models, which in turn infuse them with a very real sense of humanity. Her large-scaled sculptural installations often evoke an eerie, if not sinister, ambience. A key theme in Li’s work is « forgetting » as she strives to reveal what the viewer would rather forget.
